Bayern Brewing Pilsener is an authentic German-style lager brewed in Missoula, Montana, adhering strictly to traditional brewing techniques with a clean grain bill and no adjuncts. The brewing process utilizes a labor-intensive decoction mash method, where portions of the mash are removed, boiled, and returned to the main vessel to develop a deeper malt complexity. It features a crackery, lightly toasted malt aroma accompanied by spicy, floral, and subtle lemongrass notes from the addition of noble hops. The beer delivers a dry, grain-forward taste with a bready malt backbone and a firm, clean bitterness, meeting traditional German benchmarks with 6 color units, 12 percent Plato original gravity, and 34 European Bitter Units. It finishes with a snappy, refreshing dryness and a lingering herbal hop character.
