Funk Yeah (2019) by Beachwood Blendery is a Gueuze-inspired ale that serves as the brewerys second annual blend of the release. The brewing process utilizes a house culture, spontaneous beer, and coolship wort to achieve its distinct acidity and complex character. To craft the 2019 vintage, the blenders tasted through approximately one hundred barrels and puncheons, ultimately selecting fewer than ten. The final blend consists of beer aged in oak barrels ranging from 15 to 43 months old, with an average age of 27 months. The aroma delivers deep, funky, earthy tones alongside a slight salinity. On the palate, a soft acidity brings forward notes of earthy aged hops and subtle stone fruit, leading into a dry finish with a pleasant lingering tartness and a touch of oak.
