Cherry Stout (2011)
Bell’s Brewery · Stout - American · 7.0% ABV
Bell's Cherry Stout is an American stout that pours a tinted ruby-black color. The beer is crafted with a rich malt bill that imparts warm, roasted notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and caramel. During the brewing process, 100% Montmorency tart cherries grown in Michigan's Traverse City region are added to the stout. Rather than making the brew overly sweet, these tart cherries serve as a distinct, authentic counterpoint to the heavy malt profile. The stout is lightly hopped to maintain its balance, resulting in a complex flavor profile that is simultaneously sweet, tart, and robust, culminating in a noticeable cherry finish.
