Expedition Stout (2016)
Bell’s Brewery · Stout - Russian Imperial · 10.5% ABV
Expedition Stout from Bell's Brewery is a robust Russian Imperial Stout and one of the earliest examples of the style brewed in the United States. Originally introduced in 1989, it is specifically crafted with aging in mind, allowing its immensely complex malt characteristics to smoothly develop over years in the cellar. The beer pours a deep black and offers rich flavors with prominent notes of dark chocolate, espresso, molasses, blackberry, and dried fig. Its extensive grain bill includes two-row malt, black malt, roasted barley, chocolate malt, flaked barley, and Caramunich malt. These rich ingredients are balanced by Centennial hops and fermented using Bell's house ale yeast, resulting in a silken, bold, and enduring profile.
