Extra is a dry-hopped farmhouse ale brewed by Brasserie Thiriez in collaboration with an English brewery. Designed to bridge the English session beer tradition with Belgian farmhouse brewing, the recipe exclusively features Bramling Cross hops grown in Kent alongside French-grown 2-row spring barley malt. The beer is fermented with a Belgian yeast that founder Daniel Thiriez obtained from his brewing school, imparting the earthy and spicy characteristics of a classic saison. The result is a very dry, deeply flavorful, and highly drinkable beer that shares the balanced, hop-forward qualities of traditional English bitters and IPAs.
