Delirium Tremens
Delirium - Huyghe Brewery · Belgian Strong Golden Ale · 8.5% ABV
Delirium Tremens is a Belgian Strong Golden Ale brewed by Delirium - Huyghe Brewery. Known for its iconic ceramic-painted bottle and pink elephant imagery, this beer's unique character results from a triple fermentation process and the use of three different yeast strains. Brewed with pale malts alongside Styrian Golding and Saaz hops, it pours a pale blond with a fine, regular sparkle that creates a nice, stable foam head. The aroma is slightly malty and spicy with a heavy touch of alcohol. On the palate, a sweet, biscuit malt backbone is supported by pleasant warmth and spice, with a good shot of alcohol that warms the tongue and palate. The taste is characterized by its roundness, leading to a well-rounded, floral, and dry finish that is strong, long, and dry bitter. It famously won the title of Best Beer in the World at the 1998 World Beer Championships in Chicago.
