Matryoshka (2026)
Fort George Brewery · Stout - Imperial / Double · 13.7% ABV
Matryoshka (2026) is a barrel-aged imperial stout brewed by Fort George Brewery. The beer begins as a decadent base that is aged for one year in Westward and Westland whiskey and bourbon barrels. During this twelve-month period, the powerful flavor of the wood tempers the dessert-like sweetness of the base beer to produce a rich, smooth, and flavorful stout that is perfectly balanced in body. It is crafted with Cascade hops and an extensive malt bill consisting of GW 2-Row, Briess Black Barley, GM Flaked Oats, Munich 10, C-40, Gambrinus Honey Malt, Chocolate Malt, Brown Malt, Dark Chocolate, and Roasted Barley. This mother batch serves as the foundation for a family of smaller descendant variants that are conditioned on complementary ingredients.
