Makeda
Georgetown Brewing Company · Tella Inspired Lager · 6.5% ABV
Makeda is a Tella-inspired lager brewed by Georgetown Brewing Company, named after the Ethiopic name for Ethiopia's Queen of Sheba who reigned from 1013 to 982 BCE. Created to celebrate the Ethiopian New Year, this beer is brewed with 2-Row Pale, Acidulated, Midnight Wheat, and Smoked malts, alongside brown teff flour, and features Cascade and Saphir hops. Soft on the palate, the brown teff flour contributes an earthy texture and nutty flavors, leading to a spicy and sweet cinnamon bark finish. The Saphir hops provide mild aromas of Earl Grey tea and juniper berries, while the midnight wheat adds a dark color and depth of flavor, complemented by the faintest whisper of smoke in the aftertaste. This beer contains wheat.
