Le Terroir

New Belgium Brewing Company · Sour - Other · 7.5% ABV

Le Terroir is a dry-hopped American sour ale whose name translates to of the earth, reflecting the environmental conditions that influence its fermentation. The brewing process involves aging a base beer in large oak foeders, where it develops a complex, tart acidity and earthy wood characteristics. Following its time in the wood cellar, the beer is dry-hopped with fruit-forward varietals such as Galaxy, Alora, Amarillo, or Strata, depending on the vintage. It is brewed with a malt profile consisting of pale malt, wheat, caramel-80, carapils, and oats. The resulting flavor profile marries the sour, barrel-aged character with bright notes of juicy peach, citrus, and tropical fruit.
