Damnation by Russian River Brewing Company is a Belgian-style strong golden ale inspired by traditional Belgian ales. It is brewed with American pilsner malt, dextrose sugar, and a Belgian yeast strain, alongside Styrian Goldings and Sterling hops. During the brewing process, the fermentation temperature is initially held back and then allowed to free rise to enhance the yeast's fruity characteristics, and the beer is refermented in the bottle to create fine, moderate-to-high carbonation. The resulting medium-bodied ale features a fruity and spicy bouquet with prominent aromas of banana and pear. On the palate, it offers mouth-filling flavors of sweet malt balanced by earthy, herbal, and orange-citrus hop notes, culminating in a super dry, slightly bitter, and smooth finish.
